Type 1 diabetes is highly linked to celiac disease on a genetic level, and 5 to 10 percent of people with type 1 diabetes also have celiac disease.
In contrast, we don’t yet know a lot about type 2 diabetes and celiac disease, but a study showed that those with celiac disease are actually much less likely to get type 2 diabetes compared to people without celiac disease.
