Planning a hiking trip can be difficult for those who are gluten-free.
Going on a trip that is a few days long? No problem! Pack non-perishable items that are ready-to-eat like our gluten-free Smoky-Sweet Trail Mix. Store in a tightly sealed container for up to 3 weeks.
Ingredients
- 4 cups nuts of your choice (we used walnuts, almonds, pistachios)*
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ¼ teaspoon granulated garlic
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
Directions
Preheat oven to 350° F and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment.
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and stir well to combine.
Spread evenly on parchment-lined pan and bake on center rack for 15-20 minutes, or until completely dry, stirring once to re-distribute.
Turn off oven and allow mix to set in oven an additional 5 minutes before removing to cool.
Store in a tightly sealed container for up to 3 weeks.
*Note: Soaking nuts in boiling water for 20 minutes then draining them well before using adds crispness to this recipe.
