Making French toast for a crowd? Don’t painstakingly dip and fry each slice. Instead, make this no-fuss baked version from Whole Foods. With a mix of fresh berries and sweet maple syrup, it’ll be a hit with kids and adults alike.
- 6 slices gluten-free bread, toasted
- 2 cups mixed berries, such as blueberries and sliced strawberries
- 5 eggs
- 1 cup low-fat milk
- ½ cup maple syrup, such as 365 brand organic maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon grated nutmeg
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Oil an 8-inch baking pan and line with bread, overlapping slices and pressing them down to form a solid bottom layer; scatter berries over top.
Whisk together eggs, milk, syrup and nutmeg and pour over bread. Bake until golden brown and set, 45 to 50 minutes.
