Ubud is the true heart and spirit of Bali. The green rice paddies, towering temples, street markets, and offerings on the ground are just some of the ways you feel welcomed into the Balinese culture. Try a yoga class in the morning and listen to the mourning doves that perch on the roofs of the family compounds. Walk Campuhan Ridge, indulge in a massage, or check out the local market. When you get hungry, there’s plenty to choose from!
There are many dedicated gluten-free facilities in Ubud. These places are incredible finds for any travelers following a gluten-free diet. It means you can eat with zero concerns for cross-contamination and feel comfortable knowing every dish is safe! Dedicated gluten-free facilities are my first choices when eating out, especially when traveling abroad in other countries.
Some of my favorite dedicated gluten-free facilities in Ubud are Fussy Bird, Zest, and Gluten Free Kitchen. Fussy Bird is a gluten-free and vegetarian restaurant serving up wild combinations of classic dishes that are packed with vegetables and alternative means of protein. Try the stuffed purple sweet potato “meatballs” with the green bean cashew slaw. At Zest Ubud, don’t be surprised by the menu. Everything is gluten-free and plant-based! They serve breakfast, snacks, salads, bowls, pizzas, flatbreads, and desserts. Every dish is colorful and served with delicious, fresh ingredients.
